A handsome quilt

I am on the homestretch! What a surprise I had this morning when I was looking through my thread boxes. I was searching for just the right thread for the inner border. I knew I wanted something that would frame the piece, and so I sought out something that would contain the colors in the boats. I found a spool of variegated thread that had just the right shade of red and it looked to my eye, like it contained a nice blend of colors that I was seeking. I tried it out on a sample piece of fabric and was thrilled to see that it is a pattern of red, off white and blue! How perfect. Then I removed the original lighthouse I had in the center of the tree and replaced it with one that had the blue and white stripes. Viola. I nailed it (so-to-speak)…I sewed it place. The only thing I have left to do today is the backing, which I am pillow casing and making a personalized label. My husband will be delivering the quilt to my client on Monday. I am insisting that he take some photos of his reaction when he unrolls the quilt which by the way, is titled: Tree of Life with Boats and Lighthouses.
