Dyed fabrics and women coming to life

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

I wonder if the cool autumn weather has been inspiring me to work round the clock on my series. Women are appearing from both past and present. Here are a few new members of my family. Jill, Rose Wander, Leah, Rita, Amy, Sarah, and Ruchel and Mattel.

I learned today that my piece Fiddler on the Couch has been juried into Schweinfurth Art Center Quilt=Art=Quilt 2009 Exhibition. I am honored to be included in this very exciting exhibition

I have been working ferociously  on my Women in My Family Series and tonight decided it would be rewarding to see all of the women I have been working on, all up on my design wall. Some are complete and some are in progress. Can you see the family resemblance?

I didn’t have a lot of time today, so before I left home for work today, I did some small sketches on fabric and before I knew it, this lovely woman came to life for my Women In My Family Series. We have a lot of green eyed women so now I need to look into her eyes and see which of my relatives speaks to me.  I am going to add an outer pieced border and am thinking about yellow. purple and green…I think..
